This painting is influenced by frequent walks I made during pandemic times along the nearby creak named Alster. The riverbanks within the northern part of Hamburg are characterized by a park-like landscape with lots of trees, swamps, roots, small ponds and some fens. A green natural resort and an antipode of urbanity. The ponds in the foreground are dominated by autumn leaves floating on their surfaces. Further, we recognize lots of bleached roots and brown-black stems in trees. The leaves interfere with translucent sunlight patches. Other patches appear yellowish because of the reflection of warm autumn light. The canopy of trees interferes with the blue sky and some light reflections. All shapes and colors mirroring a natural network within the remaining green urban corridors. Patches, networks, spots, dots, and lines might be inspired by natural landscape photographs but finally became arranged directly on the canvas, on the easel, but rarely outdoors and mainly done in Studio Sessions after an inspiring walk.
